This paper has provided a critical review on three different strategic plans. The plans that have been chosen for the purpose of this assignment are Yarra LGA (1), development of compact city in Moreland (2) and development of Melbourne as a metropolitan city (3). As per the analysis, it can be stated that the most effective plan that has been development is that for the development of compact city in Moreland that is the plan 2. This is mainly because of the point that the plan has been developed as per the basic structure that should be followed in the development of strategic plan (Richard, 2011). Analysis of the facts has been done in accordance with the appropriate evidences and has been discussed in detail. The best point about the plan is that it provides a conclusion as well that cannot be found in any of the other plans that are the plan 1 and plan 3. However, plan 2 has not conducted benchmarking which is extremely important (Boxwell, 2009). Out of all of the three plans, the plan 3 has been developed in the most inefficient way. This is due to the fact that the vision has not been highlighted at the beginning of the plan that makes it difficult for understanding the main focus. The issues have been focused upon in a detailed manner; whereas the strategies have highlighted the key points and not provided the path as to how this particular plan and the strategies shall be implemented. However, one strong point about plan 3 is that this plan has considered and conducted benchmarking. In addition to this, plan 3 has conducted analysis of SWOT as well. Plan 2 has been moderately accurate as it has conducted analysis of SWOT as well as Benchmarking. However, this plan has also not provided the concluding points.
