They have a comprehensive equal employment practice. The company growth has been phenomenal. It is currently the number one retail chain in the US (Wal-Mart, 2014). The other competitors come very far behind in terms of sales.

The business environment of Wal-Mart in terms of the domestic and the international market and some of the challenges it faces are presented in the next section. Section 3 highlights the responses of Wal-Mart to these challenges and change, and section 4 critically analyzes the nature of these Reponses.

A company must maneuver in such a way that they were able to sustain in the new international arenas. The company was able to penetrate in many international markets mainly by utilizing the concepts of mergers and acquisitions of the local chains in each geographical location. They have partnered with many of the brands and retail chains across the different countries thereby making a global presence. The partnerships ensure that they have effective supply chain management in each country and are able to deliver the goods to the end consumer in spite of the issues they encounter.
Wal-Mart’s profits rose significantly when they stepped outside the US borders. They were able to sell their stocks at very high prices and their profits were significant. They have understood that there is an untapped potential market across the globe. Wal-Mart business models are now thinking of spreading more in the untapped developing countries. The potential growth is immense in these countries and these have been hugely successful ventures (Ovcino, 2010).
